Random chatter on a rainy day.

Hallo meine Lieben,

I know the new year almost feels old already but this is my first post for this year (bad blogger, I know)  so: happy new year! I hope it will be filled with happiness and health. And cats. And bunnies. And so on. You know. Because I can't really come up with one specific post today I want to share some of my random thoughts with you today. I guess I just needed a reason to wish you a happy new year.

#1.
My goal is to read as many books as possible this year but at least 60. I am about to finish book #3 so I guess I am not doing so badly right now.

#2.
Let's be friends on Goodreads if we aren't already. I am here.

#3.
 No words needed.

#4.
Sometimes I really need to try very hard to remind myself of all the good things in the world because I feel like the bad things consume my mind.

#5.
Watching Moone Boy usually cheers me up. That show is one of the best TV has ever seen. I heard they are planning an American remake. I am not so sure that will work....

#6.
I want to learn new things this year. Including a new language and sewing.

#7.
My printer hates me and never works when I need to print something important. I think technology in general hates me.

#8.
My current food addictions include pomegranates, mango, rice milk chocolate, soy macchiato, curry and lychee.

#9.
I made carrot cake muffins last weekend and they turned out delicious. Completely forgot how good they are. The bunnies were a little sad because they had to share their carrots with me.

#10.
I am finally learning all the things my camera has to offer.

#11.
I spent New Year's Eve on the couch with a book trying to calm down the pets because of the stupid fireworks.

What are you up to? How are you doing? How is your new year going? Hope you are all happy and healthy.
Write more soon! Have a great rest of the week!

  2. My dog hates fireworks, too! (Or at least she did before she started going deaf.) She always acts so tough...until she hears thunder or fireworks! :)

Good for you figuring out how to use your camera! It's a challenge, but you'll be so glad when you can use it like its meant to be used!

    1. I absolutely know what you mean, my pets always act tough as well! But only until they hear fireworks or see the vacuum cleaner! I am so sorry to hear that your dog started going deaf! That must be so difficult for her!

Yeah, I got the book you told me about and it is really great. I am learning a lot! Thank you again!

I love the taste of pomegranates, they are just always so messy to eat! :) I love carrot cake muffins, they are so delicious!

  4. I made a really ambitious goal to read 50 books this year! I couldn't get through 38 last year, so fingers crossed I will do better. A cozy New Year's eve at home is always nice.

  5. There are good things in the world and you are one of them <3

It has been a rough start to the year, I feel the same, but we just have to keep doing our bit by spreading kindness!

  7. These goals are fun to read! 60 books?! I hardly read a book last year, except for cookbooks. Your current food addictions are yummy! I would love to see your carrot cake muffins, I bet they look decadently beautiful!

Thank you very much for taking so much of your valuable time to comment on my posts while I’m away. I am deeply touched by your generosities. I am eternally grateful!

Cheers to a new year full of love, peace, laughs, joy and amazing food! Happy New Year, my friend. Take care and have a beautiful weekend! X

    1. I am sure you read a lot more cookbooks than I did though. :) The carrot cake muffins do not look that great but they taste delicious. I will take some pictures next time I make them!

Aww, Rika!! You are so sweet! Thank you so much for your kind words. I love reading your blog! Thank you so much for always visiting mine and leaving comments. It really means a lot!

  8. Our cats hated the fireworks too! Luckily Woods was home (I was working) so he cuddled on the couch with them until they went to sleep.

Curry sounds so good right now! I've been too busy and tired to cook, so I've been living off of instant-ish healthy food: salad, protein shakes, bananas...I guess it's okay for you, but a little boring. :) I could go for some good Thai food or a big vegan pizza!!!!

    1. That's great he was at home and be able to calm them down. I mostly hate fireworks because of the animals (and because of all the trash).

Salad, shakes and bananas are definitely always a good idea. That's what I make as well when I do not have time to cook, or when I am not in the mood for it. Now I am craving vegan pad thai and pizza as well! :) I made the Isa Does it pad thai once and it was delicious!

  9. I need to read more books this year too! I don't read as much as I used to but I think that's because I'm reading blogs a lot of the time!

    1. Yeah, I know what you mean. I spend a lot of time in the evening reading blogs and as well. And of course there are lots of other things that always get in the way of reading!

  10. Eating so many carrots in the new year - they're supposed to make your vision better right? Or at least that's the lie my parents told me growing up

    1. Haha yeah, I guess they are supposed to. But that did not work out very well in my case. I have eaten many many carrots in my life...and my vision is terrible.

  11. Regarding #4 - I am a firm believer that the good in the world FAR outweighs the bad, even though it's the bad that the news always concentrates on. I hope 2015 is wonderful to you, my dear friend.

    1. Thank you, Keith! Have a fantastic year!
Sometimes it is just so hard to believe. I have seen so many horrible things and read so many horrible stories (especially about animal cruelty)...so all that haunts me at night and makes it hard to believe in the good.

  12. Ack, I need to go download Goodreads app like.. right now. Well, as soon as my phone charges anyway, lol. I will connect with you on there! Right now I'm reading a book on the history of Yellowstone, "Empire of Shadows"... mostly because we're visiting this summer, hehe. What book are you into right now? - www.domesticgeekgirl.com

I have been to a couple of state parks in Colorado and Utah and loved it! I just started reading "All the bright places" by Jennifer Niven and I am loving it so far!

  13. I wish you a very happy healthy and wonderful new year! I hope the new year will be an awesome one!
Love this post! I want to read so many books,too....just wish my Bachelor's Thesis was already done ;)
No words need, that's right. So sad about those things going on in this world. BUT there is more good than bad in this world and the little thing we can do is not let the bad things overrule (which is so hard sometimes, I know).
I'm sure your bunnies loved sharing their carrots with you cause they love you <3
Did you get a new camera? That's awesome!! :)
Love the relaxed way you spent New Year's Eve. I had to wrap Molli in a blanket because he was so scared, poor thing.
Ich drücke Dich super feste, liebste Katrin. Hab ein schönes Wochenende! <3

    1. I hope your first month of the year has been great so far! I mean, 2014 ended pretty well for you! :) There are so many books on my reading list, I just need the time to read them all. I hope you can read a whole lot of books! Sometimes it is easy to forget all the good things but I am working on that! Not everything is bad I guess. :) The bunnies really are the best. :) I did get a new camera! So happy about it! Poor Molli! I am so glad you took great care of him!
Ich drueck Dich ganz ganz dolle! <3
